An Antiques Roadshow visitor couldn't help but laugh when she discovered her presumed glass ring was actually a treasure worth a small fortune. The guest was visibly shocked on the BBC show after learning the true value of her mother's ring, which she confessed to disliking. Filming at the stunning Castle Ward in Northern Ireland for the BBC daytime hit, jewellery expert Susan Rumfitt dazzled a guest with the revelation about her yellow ring.
Kicking off the appraisal under the bright sky, Susan said, "Well on this glorious sunny day, if not a bit breezy, we have sunshine in a box." She asked the guest, "This is a 1930s dress ring or perhaps even a cocktail ring. How did you get hold of this?" The owner shared: "It was a relative of my mum's, she lived in Philadelphia and when she died, a lot of her jewellery was sent to my mum, rings and brooches, and the rest we've been able to identify but we don't know what this is.
" When Susan enquired whether she liked the ring, the guest admitted: "No. It is to me an ugly hunk of glass but I'm told it's set in platinum and it has to be something so I don't know but no, I don't like it. I think it's a bit too much for me.
" Susan remarked: "Oh that's a shame, it's a gorgeous colour though, isn't it? It's a really pretty colour and if it's glass, it's a nice piece of glass.
