During Tuesday's episode, the presenter asked about her well-being following her stage three breast cancer diagnosis. Responding, Anne said: "I am so lucky, I had my first cancer in 2000, I had my chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and an operation.

"After six months of chemo, I was fine, then 20 years later almost to the day, it came back again in a different breast." The Irish star explained to Christine that when the disease returned two decades later, it was two separate cancers. She underwent more chemotherapy, radiotherapy and another operation.

Visibly emotional, she added: "I'm happy to say that, I'm clear. I've got another year before I'm actually discharged. But I'm clear of cancer at the moment thank goodness.

I count myself really, really lucky." Christine expressed her relief at hearing Anne was doing well but noted how cancer has significantly affected the Nolan family. Agreeing, Anne said: "It has hit us hard, but then there are eight children in our family and three of us have had cancer.

Whereas sometimes you see families with three children and they've all had cancer. “If you look at it like that, we’re kind of lucky in a way as well that only three of us have had it.” Speaking about the death of her sister Bernie, Anne called her passing “terribly sad” as she mentioned another one of her siblings, Linda, isn’t very well.

Anne shared: “Although she’s fantastic, she’s so upbeat about it all. She has moments. But she still goes out, she does things with the family and gets out there.

She doesn't let it get her down too much, she’s amazing.” Linda was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2006, sadly she announced the cancer had spread to her brain last year, prompting the end of her 50-year career. Speaking to Good Morning Britain at the end of 2023, the singer explained her tumours had shrunk following her latest treatments.

At the time, she said: “At the moment, I feel good. I’ve got a little bit of pain but I was walking about yesterday; we went to the beautiful garden centre and I was having a walk around to keep moving.” Lorraine continues weekdays on ITV from 9am.
