With two decades of industry experience, she undertook the formidable challenge of guiding the line through uncharted waters after operations were suspended during the COVID crisis. Soon after her appointment, she faced a personal crisis when she was diagnosed with breast cancer.

Like many women, DeMarco was shocked by the diagnosis, given her young age and active, healthy lifestyle. Fortunately, DeMarco's cancer was detected at an early and treatable stage. She boldly embraced the opportunity to use her public presence to share her story and raise awareness about the importance of preventive screenings.



During Breast Cancer Awareness Month this year, the cruise line organized themed events across its fleet, featuring pink cocktails and desserts, to bring attention to the cause. It seemed an opportune time to interview DeMarco about her journey and leadership during these challenging times. What roles led to your being named President of the cruise line? Andrea DeMarco: I joined Regent Seven Seas Cruises as Chief Sales and Marketing Officer in September 2021, during a pivotal time as we resumed operations post-pandemic.
