Just three weeks prior, Luke had joked with followers that he was still "alive and kicking". The brave and inspirational Grimsby man documented his journey to viewers across the globe via his YouTube channel, I Will Not Be Defeated.

He was diagnosed with stage four Leiomyosarcoma in August 2022. Luke was given only a year to live and underwent multiple rounds of chemotherapy , defying the 12-month life expectancy. In October last year, Luke was told he had just a few months left, and surpassed the oncologist's expectations for a second time. But on August 2, Luke passed away at home peacefully, with his loved ones by his side.
