After whitewashing Australia U-19 in the one-dayers, India wrapped up the first youth Test in three days but not before surviving a mighty scare at the MA Chidambaram Stadium here. In-form leg-spinner Mohamed Enaan (6-79), who had scalped three in the first innings, bagged a match-influencing six-wicket haul in the second essay to put the hosts in the driver's seat.

Set a target of 212, India were thankful to Nitya Pandya (51 off 86 balls; 3x4) and Nikhil Kumar (55 not out off 71 balls; 3x4, 4x6) and notched up a thrilling two-wicket win minutes into the extended phase of play on Wednesday. On a day when the spinners called the shots on a favourable surface - 10 out of the 14 wickets were picked by them - Enaan shone the brightest among the slow bowlers. Brought back into the attack for his second spell of the day, the 17-year-old continued his wicket-taking spree with the removal of visiting skipper Simon Budge.

Budge, dismissed off a no-ball by left-arm spinner Aditya Singh earlier in the first session, opted to take the aerial route only to hand a simple catch to KP Karthikeya. The mid-off fielder needed to move just a few steps backwards to send him back to the hut. Removed in similar fashion, Aidan O'Connor and Addison Sheriff picked out Nitya at silly point after being defensively tentative against Enaan.
