Vadodara: A group of youngsters undertook a daring rescue operation and saved an elderly man who fractured his arms and legs after a sudden fall in his house in the Taj Burhani building in the Kamathipura area on Wednesday. The man's pre-existing medical issues compounded the situation, necessitating immediate medical attention. However, when local residents failed to receive timely help from the authorities, a group of youths took it upon themselves to rescue the man from the 12-foot-deep floodwaters.

The rescue operation was led by five swimmers , including Taherbhai Jabuawala, a community leader from Meraj Residency in Fatehganj. The team tied a rope from Meraj Residency and dove into the deep, fast-moving waters. Using a makeshift raft , they navigated through the strong current to reach the Taj Burhani building, where the injured man was stranded.

The rescue was fraught with challenges as the strong currents threatened to sweep the swimmers away. At one point, there was a moment of panic when one of the rescuers was nearly dragged under by the force of the water. Fortunately, another swimmer quickly intervened, averting disaster.

Despite the perilous conditions, the rescuers managed to secure the injured man on the raft and carefully guided it back to safety using the rope. The raft, with the patient aboard, was successfully brought to Fateganj Sadar Bazar, from where he was transported to the hospital by the youths in a car.
