First it was a comeback for Nineties fashion, then the return of wired headphones and car boot sales. Now it is the British bingo hall that is attracting a fresh look from a surprisingly youthful crowd. Buzz Bingo, formerly Gala Bingo, is betting on a record Christmas thanks to scores of young people turning up at its venues hoping for a full house.

The bingo operator, which launched its online platform in 2018, operates 82 clubs in the UK including the country’s biggest bingo club in Cricklewood, north London, which it bought this year from the Gauselmann gaming family. Buzz has forecast double-digit like-for-like growth over the festive period. The fact that Christmas falls in the middle of the week this year is another boon given that peak bingo trading happens at weekends.
