An 11-year-old Wicklow girl tragically lost her life in a holiday accident in Spain, falling from the seventh floor of a hotel in Puerto de Alcudia, Majorca. The young girl, named as Clodagh Phelan, sadly passed away around 6.30am on Monday morning at the Club Mac Hotel, despite paramedics' best efforts to revive her.

Clodagh was a beloved member of Parnell Athletics Club in Rathdrum, Co Wicklow . The club took to Facebook to share the devastating news, saying: "Clodagh tragically passed away following an accident on holidays. Clodagh was a beautiful, spirited child and a great athlete who excelled in many sports, not just athletics.

Several other local clubs, including Glendalough AC, Roundwood and District Athletic Club, Aughrim GAA and Croghan Athletics Club, also expressed their sympathies to the Phelan family.
