Bengaluru: The Kannur Express that starts from Yeshwantpur was moved to Basanawadi, around four years ago, without any prior information. However, after the relentless protests of Malayali associations, the train was brought back to Yeshwantpur, a few months later. The only daily train to the Malabar region via Salem was moved to Basanawadi to construct the platform for the newly launched Intercity Express to Shivamogga.
Now, the Yeshwantpura – Kochuveli Garib Radh that operated three weekly services has been cancelled from August 20 to September 18 citing platform works as part of the renovation of the Yeshwantpura station. Meanwhile, the authorities have been apathetic to the passengers’ demand to operate the train at least from Bayyappanahalli SMVT or Basanawadi for a month, reported Manorama Online. No stop at Cantonment Forty-four trains including six to Kerala will not stop at the Bengaluru Cantonment station from September 20 to December 20 as renovation works have been commissioned here.
The stop has been temporarily cancelled for 92 days as two platforms at the station will be pulled down for renovation. KSR Bengaluru – Ernakulam Express (12677/12678), Mysuru – Kochuveli Express (16315/16316) and KSR Bengaluru – Kanyakumari Express (16525/16526) will not have stops at the Cantonment station. The passengers who book tickets on these trains will have to board or depart at KSR Bengaluru, KR Puram or Whitefield stations.
