Pune: A 22-year-old worker from a private company in Parandwadi of Maval taluka, who had sustained burns in an explosion on Aug 1, succumbed to the injuries during treatment in a hospital on Saturday. Senior inspector Digambar Suryawanshi of the Shirgaon-Parandwadi police said that the deceased, Ajaykumar Maurya (22) of Nepal, was working in the spare parts manufacturing unit. He was staying on the premises of the factory itself.

“The accident occured on Aug 1, when Maurya used some chemical substances to ignite the stove for cooking. The substances exploded and Maurya sustained severe burns. He died during treatment in a hospital,” Suryawanshi said.
