Berhampur: The women’s wing of a voluntary organisation at Mundamarai near Aska has made rakhis with biodegradable materials and sent them to security personnel engaged in anti-Maoist operation in Kandhamal distict so that they can wear them on Raksha Bandhan on Monday, a custom that was started three years ago. The women have used foodgrains like paddy, lentils, black grain, ragi, sago and mustard and other biodegradable materials to make the rakhis. Around 25 members of Kalinga Vysya Sangha’s (KVS) women’s wing have made around 550 rakhis.
