Make-up lovers up and down the country have breathed a huge sigh of relief after a scientist carried out an experiment on a seven-year old eyeshadow palette. TikTok user @the_lab_life shared a video of her test on an Urban Decay palette, which quickly caused a stir and has been viewed almost six million times by concerned beauty enthusiasts. "I know its from 2017 because I got it for prom," she began her clip.

The_lab_life then opened up her Naked bronze palette and began swabbing each of its six shades with a cotton bud. She then transferred the contents of the swabs to two Petri dishes and let science take its course. Following an incubation period of 24 hours in the fridge, she removed the dishes, which thankfully revealed no bacterial growth whatsoever.

It prompted scores of women to admit their surprise, whilst some were left to regret binning their palettes believing they were too old. "I was fully prepared to have to suffer selective amnesia but I was pleasantly surprised. Day made," one TikTok user gleefully responded.

A second concurred: "In my head the whole time 'I don't need to know. I don't need to know'. The relief afterwards felt good.

Not just with this palette but my blushes as well." A third cursed, however: "Watching this and remembering my favourite palette that I threw coz it's past the expiry date. I should've kept it, I rarely even used it.

" Whilst a fourth person echoed the sentiment, adding: "So you’re telling me that I threw away my Jaclyn Hill pal.
