Mumbai: A 27-year-old beautician lodged a complaint with Powai Police after she was harassed with texts demanding loan repayment and her photo was morphed. The woman said in her complaint that she has never applied for a loan. Police are probing further.
According to her complaint, she got a WhatsApp text on Aug 11 demanding loan repayment. She deleted it as she hadn't taken any loan. She then started to receive texts repeatedly demanding repayment.
Some of these texts were sent from international numbers. After her WhatsApp display picture was morphed, she closed her WhatsApp account and deleted all data on Aug 13. On Aug 21, she restarted the WhatsApp account to search for a client's contact number.
To her horror, she received nude photos morphed with images of her face. The photos had lewd captions and were also sent to her employer. The complainant went to her bank on Aug 22 to make inquiries and learnt that a loan had been taken in her name.
She then approached Powai Police and lodged a complaint on Aug 23..
