An American traveller shared how she got American Airlines to cover food, accommodation and transport for three days while in Italy and was given US$3600 (NZ$6020) in flight credit. On August 4, Susan Berry, a freelance photographer from Philadephia, arrived at Naples airport to fly home after a work trip. There was just one problem: American Airlines had allegedly oversold the flight until August 15.

For some passengers, this would be a disaster but, since the 36-year-old freelances and loves to travel, she was more than happy to have another night in Italy. Berry received $1200 in flight credits and got a private transfer to a four-star hotel with free meals, which she began documenting on TikTok in a series of comical videos, calling it “Camp American Airlines”. How it all started! Had a BALL with tbis first group of my fellow overbooked buddies! #americanairlines #napoli #traveltips #travellife #airportlife #travelvlogger.
