Pune: A woman (29) from Belagavi in Karnataka, working as housekeeping staff at a restaurant in Walhekarwadi, was found stabbed in her rented room near the eatery at Chinchwad at 3pm on Wednesday. Based on CCTV footage collected from a neighbouring house and a complaint lodged by the victim's roommate who is also her co-worker, the Pimpri Chinchwad police on Wednesday night registered a murder case against the victim's friend, who has not been traced. "The suspect is spotted in the footage," a police officer said.
Senior Inspector Jitenda Koli of the Chinchwad police told TOI, "The victim was staying in a rented accommodation with two co-workers. Her roommate, who lodged the complaint, said she and the victim left their husbands as they were alcoholics and were abusive. For 3 months, they were working in the Walhekarwadi eatery.
" The complainant has stated that the victim was in a relationship with a man from her neighbouring village in Belagavi. The man used to visit Pune to meet her. "For the last 1.
5 months, the victim and her boyfriend were not talking as she did not want to take their relationship forward," the complainant told police. On Tuesday, the complainant left their room at 10.30am for the restaurant.
The victim told her that she would be coming late. Their other roommate had already left the room for work at 8.30am.
