The 19-year-old male driver lost control of the Mitsubishi Lancer on Kessels Road in Coopers Plains, south Brisbane , at around 4.50am on Thursday.

The car veered off the road, crashed into a telegraph pole, and flipped. The woman, aged in her 30s, was flung several metres from the footpath and was found in bushland with critical injuries. She could not be saved by paramedics and died at the scene.

Chilling CCTV from a nearby property shows the woman walking along a footpath just moments before she was struck by the Mitsubishi Lancer. The driver, from Tingalpa in central Brisbane, was taken to Princess Alexandria Hospital in a stable condition to be treated for an arm injury. In images from the scene, the crumpled Lancer is seen completely wrecked with parts of the front exterior ripped apart.
