Beauty standards have made women believe they have to look and appear a 'certain way' to fit in. So when it comes to grey hairs, you rarely see women showing off their silver strands. With constant hair dye adverts always talking about covering your grey hair - it's no wonder we hardly see women posting about them.

However, one woman is on a mission to embrace her grey hair and wants to prove it isn't something to just associate with ageing. After being stuck in a cycle of colouring her hair every three weeks, she's ditched the dye after experimenting with "every different colour of brown". Jade Connor found her first silver strand at just 15-years-old when a friend pointed it out and has been relying on colouring her hair ever since.

The photographer from Newcastle finally decided to ditch the dyes and started growing out her grey hair earlier this year, after seeing other women embracing their grey locks. She found dying her her "boring" and "tedious" so decided to just let it grow and turn grey naturally, although it affected her confidence growing up. "I was 15 when my friend was straightening my hair and noticed grey streaks at the very back of my head.

She took a picture and showed me, and I couldn't believe it. I was so shocked, but luckily it was covered by a top layer of hair, so it didn't bother me too much at first. By the time I was 18, I was noticing more and more speckles, and as I reached my early 20s, it was coming in even thicker and faster," Jade explained, .
