The Prince and Princess of Wales are spending the end of the summer at Balmoral as usual - but last year they split their holiday time split between destinations. Kate Middleton has been enjoying some much deserved time out of the public eye over the past few months since news of her cancer diagnosis was made public. The Princess of Wales delighted royal fans with an appearance at Crathie Kirk at the weekend alongside Prince George and Prince William, marking her first appearance at the Aberdeenshire estate since she revealed her health issues in March.

It came after the princess made a much welcomed return to the spotlight at Trooping the Colour in June, her first official duty this year. As Kate continues on her important journey back to recovery, there's not likely to be many people who would begrudge her the space and time to get well and be absent from the public eye. However, that wasn't always the case, as we've reported previously that the future King and Queen have been "raising eyebrows" in the past with the amount of time they've had off, according to one royal expert.
