The Springboks will be overwhelming favourites to claim a comfortable victory over embattled Wales in their final Test of the season this Saturday, with Rassie Erasmus likely to make several changes to the team that faced England. It has been confirmed that Erasmus will unveil the side to tackle Wales just before 16:30 (SA time) on Tuesday, 19 November, and several first-choice players are expected to be rested on matchday. The good news is that it has been confirmed that there are no injury concerns of note in the Springbok camp, with Ox Nche having recovered from a knock to the knee.
At a press conference on Monday, assistant coach Deon Davids was asked if there was a temptation to send some players home who are not included in the match-day squad. “At this stage everyone will train with us this week,” he confirmed. “Ox got a cut above his knee, but he has recovered well.
He did the gym session this morning. He, like all the other players, is available for selection. “There are a couple of guys with bumps and bruises, but there aren’t a lot of concerns for us at this stage.
” When quizzed about team selection after Erasmus’ comments following the England match that he would like to give everyone in the group a chance to play on tour if possible, Davids said: “We always try to select the best team we can according to the opposition’s strengths, and we really want to win this Test match, so we need to get the balance right between getting the desired results .
