You don’t want to be stuck in a closed compact set with a Will Smith fart. It’s not us but his Men In Black director says so. Barry Sonnenfeld, who helmed the actor’s 1997 sci-fi blockbuster, recalled Smith’s gassy incident during his latest appearance on the Let’s Talk Off Camera With Kelly Ripa podcast.

The director, 71, claimed the entire set had to be evacuated for three hours after the stinky encounter. It so happened that Smith and Tommy Lee Jones (who plays Agent K in the film), were shooting a scene involving them riding a car at a super high speed. To capture the shot the duo had to be “hermetically sealed” in a pod.

The director revealed, “I say, ‘Roll camera,’ and I hear Will Smith go, ‘Oh Jesus, so sorry. Tommy, so sorry. Baz, get the ladder.

’ And you hear Tommy saying, ‘That’s fine, Will. No worries, Will. Don’t worry, Will.

’ ” Initially, Sonnenfeld was confused about what prompted the apologies but later he learned, “What happened was, Will Smith is a farter. It’s just some people are.” The sealed space wasn’t the best place to be, he alleged, “We evacuated the stage for about three hours.

And that’s incredible. No, he’s, you know, a lovely guy. Just, he farts.

Some do, some don’t." The director’s appearance on the podcast came only a day after the release of his new book Best Possible Place, Worst Possible Time. A post shared by Men In Black (@meninblack) After their collaboration on the original Men In Black .
