A brand-new featurette promoting Universal Pictures' two-part Wicked epic has seemingly outed a surprise cameo from Kristin Chenoweth. Starring popstar Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo as Galinda Upland and Elphaba Thropp, who later transform into Glinda the Good and The Wicked Witch of the West in the Oz mythology, the first movie is due out in cinemas this November and comes from Crazy Rich Asians director Jon M. Chu.

Amidst the various behind-the-scenes interviews shown in the teaser, original Broadway star Chenoweth was spotted on set as a citizen of Oz by sharp-eyed viewers. She played Glinda to much acclaim for nine months in total, receiving a nomination for Best Leadi ng Actress in a Musical at the 2004 edition of the Tony Awards. Commenting on social media, some Wicked fans allowed their excitement to overcome this spoiler.

"I think she's playing Galinda's mom!" and "OOOOH! They gave her a cameo!" read two reactions, while another individual wondered whether the stage version of Elphaba, Idina Menzel, might pop up in the adaptation too. Not everyone was enamoured by the news though, with a disgruntled trio writing: "Can't believe they let this out", "somebody getting fired" and "how they f*** this uppppp." This comes after Chenoweth discussed her life-changing stint in Wicked with the New York Theatre Guide in 2022.

Asked about any memorable mishaps on stage, she answered: "There are so many, but one that only I seem to find funny is there were lights that moved, very.
