Sunday, September 22, 2024 The Sabah Tourism Board (STB) is urging young people to explore the growing business and job opportunities in rural tourism to ensure long-term development and prosperity. STB Chairman, Datuk Joniston Bangkuai, highlighted Kiulu in the Tuaran district as a success story, where over 400 full-time and part-time jobs have been created through the development of 80 tourism-related businesses. Speaking at the closing ceremony of the Holistic Service Experience Programme at Riverbug Base Camp, Bangkuai encouraged students to utilize their hospitality and tourism education by entering the tourism sector.

The event, hosted by North Borneo University College (NBUC), aims to equip students with essential skills for the industry. Kiulu has become a popular destination for tourists and international students, especially for summer camps and team-building activities. Bangkuai emphasized that such programs provide valuable practical experiences while promoting Sabah’s thriving tourism sector.

He further encouraged local institutions to utilize rural destinations like Kiulu for educational and personal development purposes, noting the increasing potential for growth in the region’s tourism industry..
