Prince Harry has revealed how he was 30 minutes late for his first date with Meghan Markle and ended up “red-cheeked” as he rushed into the restaurant to meet her. Details of the Sussexes romance were revealed in their Netflix show and then in Harry’s memoir Spare, where it has became clear that they didn’t meet on a blind date as was once claimed. Meghan, 41, admitted that she planned a summer being single before meeting Harry in 2016, as they discussed their relationship in their Netflix show.
And in Spare, Harry said that he met Meghan after seeing her photo while scrolling through Instagram . They are different accounts to back in 2018 when, following their engagement, Meghan and Harry sat down for a joint interview in which they claimed they were set up on a blind date by a mutual friend. Harry said at the time: "We were introduced, actually, by a mutual friend - we'll protect her privacy - but it was literally through her and we met once and then twice, back to back, two dates in London last July, beginning of July, and then it was about three, maybe four weeks later that I managed to persuade her to join me in Botswana.
"And we camped out with each other under the stars and she came and joined me for five days out there, which was absolutely fantastic. So then we were really by ourselves, which was crucial to me to make sure we had the chance to get to know each other."
