Friday, January 24, 2025 Kenya is turning its focus toward India’s rising interest in luxury and group travel, aiming to secure a larger share of the Asian tourism market. Currently ranked as the sixth-largest source of visitors to Kenya, India holds immense potential for further growth in tourism numbers. To tap into this promising market, the Kenya Tourism Board (KTB) has partnered with 12 travel trade companies to host roadshows in Ahmedabad, Bangalore, and Kolkata.

These events are designed to highlight Kenya’s diverse travel experiences and entice Indian travelers to choose Kenya as their next destination. According to KTB CEO June Chepkemei, the Indian market has shown remarkable recovery and growth since the COVID-19 pandemic. Tourist arrivals from India climbed by 12.

4% in 2024, with 106,863 visitors compared to 95,038 in 2023. This growth reflects the increasing interest among Indian travelers in exploring Kenya’s rich offerings. While Kenya is well-known in India for its iconic wildlife safaris, particularly in the Masai Mara, Chepkemei emphasized that the country has broadened its appeal by packaging a variety of unique experiences.
