Amazon MGM Studios is not proceeding with the Untitled J. Edgar project , one of the Bosch spinoffs that had been in development at the studio. Meanwhile, Amazon Freevee is not moving forward with the Who’s the Boss? sequel starring Tony Danza and Alyssa Milano, which had been in the works at the streamer.

The Untitled J. Edgar project was on of two Bosch spinoffs announced in February 2023 as being in development at Amazon MGM Studios. The other, which centers on Detective Renée Ballard, was picked up to series earlier this year with Maggie Q starring .

Larry Andries ( Blue Bloods ) was writing the script for the J. Edgar spinoff, which he executive produced with Michael Connelly, author of the Harry Bosch book series. Andries in March was charged with six felony counts of sexual assault in Los Angeles.

The J. Edgar offshoot was to follow Harry Bosch’s (Titus Welliver) former partner, Detective Jerry Edgar, who is tapped for an undercover FBI mission in Little Haiti, Miami. In this glamorous city, he is forced to balance his new life with the gritty underbelly of the city, while being chased by his mysterious past.

Jamie Hector, who starred as Edgar opposite Welliver on Bosch , was poised to reprise his role in the potential spinoff. The producing team on behalf of Fabel Entertainment included executive producers Henrik Bastin and Melissa Aouate, and co-executive producer Jasmine Russ. Amazon’s Bosch universe, which kicked off in 2014 with the long-running mothership.
