Rings of Power has finally returned to our screens with an epic three-episode opener. The Lord of the Rings series on Prime Video returned on Thursday (August 29) and focuses on Sauron’s bid for power and the aftermath of the season one finale’s twist. Sauron posed as a rugged Southlander named Halbrand who claimed he was the King of Southlands, but Galadriel uncovered the truth when she discovered the line of the King of the Southlands had been broken.

After attempting to tempt Galadriel to his cause and manipulate her, Sauron fled to the dark land of Mordor. The Rings of Power season two premieres at 8am on Thursday, August 29, and a new episode will drop every Thursday through to the eighth and final episode on October 3. But when does Rings of Power season two begin and how soon after the events of season one? When does Rings of Power season two take place? Rings of Power season two takes place just moments after the events of the season one finale.

Elrond has made the same discovery as Galadriel and deduces he is someone sinister. A caption reveals it is the Dawn of the Second Age and Sauron has fled to Fordwaith to see Adar and his Orc army. Meanwhile, Elrond is being chased by Galadriel as they react to Sauron’s presence and what they should do with their newly created Rings of Power.

The new eight-part season will feature the hotly anticipated Siege of Eregion, a pivotal battle of the franchise’s Second Age. In The Rings of Power season two, Sauron has returne.
