And, as they knock up a loaf cake, eight mini Battenbergs and a hyper-realistic illusion cake, Paul Hollywood awards his first handshake of the series and Prue Leith declares an effort to be “one of the most interesting cakes I’ve ever eaten”.

30pm, BBC Two In her ongoing quest to make us “love our leftovers”, Nadiya Hussain cooks a beef stir-fry, which she repurposes later in the week with seaweed, wasabi and cucumber into a sushi-style wrap. She also whips up a stale bread granola, where she bakes old bread with oats, nuts, syrup and cinnamon to fill up a huge jar that can last for weeks. 8pm, ITV1 It’s Lingerie Week in this contest for amateur clothes designers – the prize being a job as a junior fashion designer for M&S (as with the similarly branded culinary challenge series Cooking With the Stars , the store being more than well-compensated with bags of free publicity).
