One brand which nailed eye-catching ads was Diet Coke. In 1994, the company launched the Diet Coke Break advertising campaign, which featured a series of six TV ads running until 2013.

The first of these ads starred Lucky Vanous, a 6ft 2in former soldier from Nebraska, US. Lucky, now 63, quickly became known as the 'Diet Coke guy' thanks to the ad, which propelled him to fame. The commercial featured a group of women ogling Lucky, who played a construction worker, while was working, with hit track I Just Want to Make Love to You as the soundtrack.

The worker then removed his shirt while taking his 'Diet Coke break'. Lucky once said of his role: “I thought taking off my shirt and stuff was kind of cheesy.” However, the year his ad came out, Lucky was named of of People magazine's Most Beautiful People and he launched his acting career.

He went on to appear in US TV series Pacific Palisades as well as 18 Wheels of Justice. Lucky starred in 1997's Chapter Perfect in addition to 2005's Widowmaker. He also took part in Weakest Link and starred in an episode of Two and a Half Men.

It's believed Lucky hasn't starred in anything since 2005. It's unknown .
