At the recent In Charge & The Power of Kindness s ummit in New York City, which was hosted by Diane von Furstenberg, the storied designer gathered groups of powerhouse women to talk about the changing landscape of women in business while encouraging kindness and connection among one another. "I didn't start very confident," Knowles admitted. "I started off doing the girls' hair and then their costumes out of a need, and as I did these things I became more confident. I just grew.

And later in life, I didn't feel the pressure to prove anything to anyone. I felt free to be myself and do what I wanted to do, and not worry so much." She also discussed her ethos when it came to raising her children.
