A road in Westhoughton has been closed after reports of a crash. Chew Moor Lane in Westhoughton has been closed after a crash was reported just before 7pm this evening (Monday). A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said: “Just before 7pm today (Monday, 28th October), firefighters were called to an incident on Hatherlow Court in Westhoughton.

“Crews remain at the scene.” There is speculation that the incident involved a person being hit however this hasn’t been confirmed. An eyewitness said: "The road has been closed both ways for a while now and looks like it will be for some time.

"Whatever has happened looks serious as everyone who comes down Chew Moor Lane has to detour." Another said: "I think it happened at around 7pm. We saw police arriving around that time.

It looks like someone may have been hit but it's not clear. I hope everyone is ok." Cllr Martin Tighe said on social media that there is a crash on Chew Moor and he hopes everyone is ok.

It’s believed that the incident is police led, we are still awaiting a comment from Greater Manchester Police and Northwest Ambulance Service..
