A thriving high street in the West Midlands has been named among the best in the UK. The pretty shopping district, which is less than an hour from Birmingham by car or train, was ranked higher than all the high streets in London in a new top 10 list. Queen Street in Cardiff ranked in first, thanks to its close location to historical landmarks and indoor shopping centres.

It was also praised for its variety of retailers, accessibility and transport links. Gloucester came in second and was singled out by judges for its thriving independent restaurant scene and unbeatable leisure options. Eastgate Street in Chester followed, scoring highly for its range of independent retailers and overall 'aesthetic appeal'.

Worcester High Street boasts a mix of big name shops like M&S , Next, H&M, River Island and TK Maxx and independent boutiques including Flowers of Worcester florist, jewellery stores and Script Haven bookshop.
