My day-to-day job is all about the weather: forecasting, communicating and ensuring the public is prepared for whatever nature tosses our way. Disasters happen, and no matter where you live, or who you are, you have some degree of vulnerability to something. We saw the devastation of Typhoon Mawar on Guam.

It affected everyone on the island, but some much more than others. Knowledge, education and awareness are key to preparedness. But also people helping and caring for each other.

This week’s column deviates from our "daily weather" to one of those storms of life that too many on Guam live through on a daily basis: food insecurity. My brother and I have partnered with a local charity, Be Heartfelt, which seeks to feed hungry children. Be Heartfelt aims to discreetly provide meals to children in need by placing food directly into their backpacks at school.

This initiative ensures that no child goes hungry while maintaining their dignity and privacy. You’ve likely seen the recent news and social media coverage of a project we are working on right now, the Tower for Humanity. Since our Guinness World Record tower in June 2022, we’ve partnered with local charities who serve those in need on Guam once a venue has requested a project.

We request nothing in return for doing the project, other than providing the means to build what’s in mind, and for all support to go to a local charity. This October, we are partnered with Be Heartfelt for our second year in a row to hold an.
