Forte’s Ice Cream in Rhos-on-Sea has a brutalist concrete look about the front of the building. Inside, it has a certain 1920s Art Deco-style charm, with spinning carousels of cakes and an old-fashioned appeal. The Forte family and the many offshoots have been making delicious ice cream in North Wales since 1926.

The building is located directly across the road from the beautiful prom and looks like the perfect place to do a bit of people-watching and lick your ice cream. We watched as families enjoyed a bit of crabbing off the pier or soaking up the sun on the golden sands. We managed to get a car parking space in one of the new parking bays near the promenade but it was more by luck than anything else as the roads were pretty congested and packed full of tourists.

The reviews online for the Fortes ice cream parlour are certainly very mixed with some customers complaining about the cost citing ‘they are massively overpriced’ whilst others are more than happy with their tasty Italian gelato.
