I'd heard lots about the place but never had the chance to visit before. So with Whitby in North Yorkshire being named one of the UK's top seaside towns, it felt like the ideal time to take a trip. Our home for a couple of nights was a charming, former fisherman’s cottage inside Oystons Yard, at the very heart of Whitby, tucked away off one of the main streets, Flowergate.

While retaining traditional features like the exposed beams, this place is a far cry from the rugged fisherman's cottage you might expect.
