Noufal, who left for Oman three months ago from Mundakkai , would not have thought that he was bidding farewell to his family forever. He returned on Monday to the place where his house stood, only to find that the structure there and 11 members of his family were washed away. A tearful Noufal was inconsolable as he visited the spot on Monday.

"Noufal came to me today to get a pass issued so that he could go to Mundakkai where his house once stood. All his close relatives, including wife and children, have died. His house is not there anymore.

He came on Monday morning so that he could go to Mundakkai. From that house alone, 11 people have died," said Chooralmala ward member Noorudeen C K. A few relatives who accompanied Noufal to the spot were struggling to calm him as he walked around aimlessly at the spot, weeping.

TOI had reported on the plight of Noufal's sister, Nousheeba, on Sunday, who also lost her mother-in-law, sisters-in-law, and two children of one of her sisters-in-law. She had said that there were 11 family members in the house, and all went missing after the landslide swept away the entire house without a trace. "All of them were staying in my father's house just in front of the Mundakkai mosque.

My elder brother and his five-member family, who were staying in the estate quarters, had come to be with my father in view of the heavy rains," she told TOI on Saturday. Noufal's wife Sajna, children Nihal and Isha Mehrin, father Kunhammed, mother Ayisha, nieces Ayis.
