When it was revealed that singer Omar Apollo would make his acting debut alongside Daniel Craig in Luca Guadagnino ‘s next film Queer , the internet went abuzz over an alleged steamy scene shared with the lead actor. However, the artist has even more to offer his fans ahead of the theatrical feature with the release of a special single for the film. “Te Maldigo,” roughly translating to “I Curse You” in English, is a stripped-down serenade centered on Apollo’s slow and soft vocalizations.

Accompanied by collaborators Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross on production, minor key guitar plucks mirror the low tempo articulation of Apollo’s heartful lyrics: “What a cruel world where you don’t love me What can I do? I curse you,” (translated from Spanish). Queer is Guadagnino’s adaptation of William S. Burroughs’ original novel, which follows the hedonic and romantic pursuits of gay American expat William Lee (Daniel Craig) in 1950s Mexico City.

The music video is set inside a dimly lit bar saturated with a sentiment of melancholy, perhaps referencing the bar frequented by the main character in the novel, where he meets his lover Eugene Allerton (Drew Starkey). See the above for the full video for “Te Maldigo,” which is available everywhere now. Queer will begin screening in select theaters starting November 27.
