The election is still days away, but many people have already cast their ballot. Early voting in New Jersey started last Saturday, Oct. 26.

Hunterdon and Warren County election officials said they have seen record turnout. "Actually, Hunterdon County which has just roughly over 100,000 registered voters have seen over 16,000 voters already vote early at the early voting centers," said Mary Melfi, Hunterdon County Clerk. William Duffy, Administrator, Warren County Elections, told 69 News, "We've been seeing approximately 2,000 people a day at our three sites combined.

" Each county has three sites designated for early voting. Weekends tend to be busier. "There have been lines Saturday and Sunday," said Melfi.

"We did experience almost a two-hour wait." Despite some lines, both counties' election officials said the feedback has been very positive. "All the comments are great," said Melfi.

"'We loved it. The poll workers are phenomenal. Everybody's phenomenal.

We love early voting." Duffy said, "People have been very courteous to each other." As of Wednesday, between early voting and mail-in ballots combined, election officials say 26% of the county's registered voters in Hunterdon have cast their ballot.

It's just over 23% in Warren County. They're expecting a rush of people this weekend. The last day to vote early in New Jersey is Sunday, Nov.
