As Perth-born fashion designer Poppy Lissiman navigates Tokyo’s unbearably hot summer, the mastermind behind the cult accessory brand is celebrating her transition into designing items for the tech world. Lissiman is known for her colourful and eclectic bags and sunglasses — even worn by the likes of Justin Bieber and Kylie Jenner — but her latest collection sees the accessory queen branch into technology with electronics company Casetify. The collection of phone cases, laptop sleeves, chargers and watchbands is a wonderful capsule of psychedelic prints that have been pulled and reworked from some of Lissiman’s best-selling styles and some unreleased pieces out later this year.

Inspiration for the bright abstract and floral designs comes from Amish quilts to artist John Divola to a recent viewing of the 2000s film In The Mood For Love. With products from the collection available to purchase now, Lissiman has now turned her focus to moving back to Australia after a year of living abroad in Japan’s capital city Tokyo. “Aside from work, I’m just trying to explore as much as possible and make the most of every moment that I’m so lucky to have here,” she said.

“I’m moving back to Australia (this month) so currently squeezing every little morsel of goodness out of this wonderfully inspiring country.” Lissiman described her experience living in Tokyo as “independent and safe” and noted how the city doesn’t have Australia’s casual, relaxed fashion atti.
