The Clarion Ledger's Jackson Metro Student of the Week feature highlights the outstanding achievements of local high school students, academic and beyond. Each week, you can vote for one winner out of five nominees. Read about this week's nominees and then vote in the poll below.

The poll will close Thursday at noon. Winners will be announced on Friday morning each week. Each person can cast a vote once per hour per device.

Sanders is a senior at Provine High School who was determined to keep her grades at an “A” during the second semester of her junior year. After complications with her colon, Sanders was rushed into surgery, induced into a coma for seven days and stayed in the hospital for a month. She still maintained all of her duties as cheer captain and student body vice president and received honor roll with all A’s.

Kris Rhodes, who goes by Ryan, is a senior at Murrah High School and a sophomore in the Jackson Middle College Program at Jackson State University. Rhodes earned a perfect score on the PSAT and a 35 on the ACT. He also successfully passed the Core Math Praxis Exam.

In addition to his academic success, he is currently attending a dual-enrollment program at Jackson State University pursuing a math education degree. His humble attitude and exemplary leadership skills make him a role model for his peers, both in the classroom and beyond. Tillman is senior at Madison-Ridgeland Academy with a passion for healthcare.
