The beach Slag Vlugtenburg in 's-Gravenzande has been declared the cleanest beach in the Netherlands, the organization Strand Nederland, which is the beach organization of the Netherlands, announced. The beach was given a 9.84 rating out of 10 and is, therefore, the best of the 94 beach locations that were inspected.

The beach in Zuid-Holland did just about better than the second-placed beach on Hollum in Ameland. That was given a 9.83 score.

Inspectors visited every location three times. The first round of inspections was in May, and then they returned twice up to halfway through July to see how clean the beaches were. Four grades were handed out based on this: for the parking lot, the beach entry, the area of the beach pavilion, and the state of the beach up to the coastline.
