Comedian-actor Vir Das, who hosted the 52nd International Emmy Awards in New York, wore an outfit designed by a budding couturier from Delhi. In a post on Instagram, the comedian introduced his designer, saying, “As promised, I know nothing about fashion. But she does and she worked super hard.
Her name is Shubhangi Bajpai and she is from Delhi. Happy to show you her work soon. Keep in mind, she doesn't have much to work with here.
” Das further shared that Bajpai was selected from around 4,000 entries they received. “We had like 4,000 people submit. I wanna thank you for sending your stuff.
We picked this kid from Delhi,” he wrote. Per her Instagram handle, Bajpai has just over 1,600 followers on the social media platform and is the founder of the clothing brand, Salooka. For the special occasion, Bajpai designed a black suit for Vir Das.
She paired a white shirt and a clean-cut blazer, completing his look with flared pants and sneakers. The 2023 Emmy winner also wore a green pendant. In September, Das shared a post inviting fresh talents to get a chance to design clothes for him for the Emmys.
“Alright, folks. I'm going to be the first Indian to host the International Emmy Awards. I'm going to wear something Indian from home.
I'm also not going to wear a fancy designer. They have enough cash and clients. So, we're gonna launch someone new,” he wrote.
Das further noted that this will be “super duper ultra formal wear at a very high level for a very large audienc.
