Pune: Luggage getting damaged while airlines' ground staffers handle them at the city airport has become a huge concern of flyers. Baner resident Arpan Shukla, sitting in a window seat of an Akasa aircraft to Goa on October 6 (Sunday) evening, saw some staffers of IndiGo mishandling luggage of passengers of another plane. He took a video and posted it on social media, expressing concern.

"It was 5.14pm. Our flight was about to take off.

An IndiGo flight had landed. The luggage of its passengers were being put into a tug, which would then be transported to the baggage belt area in the terminal building. They (ground staffers) were just throwing the luggage," Shukla told TOI.

Amrita Singh, who travelled from Pune to Ranchi in an IndiGo flight, posted a picture of her cracked trolley bag on X on Tuesday (October 8). "Wonderful service by IndiGo this morning. They broke my luggage and did not bother to help when I reported it.

They did not provide a form for raising a complaint and said, ‘go ahead and complain'," she wrote on X. TOI sent a WhatsApp message to IndiGo's spokesperson enquiring about both the incidents in the early hours of Wednesday. A reply from the airline was awaited till going to press.

A source in IndiGo said they had taken cognisance of a video circulating on social media showing baggage handling of the loaders. "While no damage was reported, the video is an aberration and does not represent IndiGo's standards of baggage-handling. We ensure strict adherence .
