Saturday, November 9, 2024 Victoria is set to deliver big laughs this weekend with the return of Comedy in the Vines, transforming the scenic Goulburn Valley wine region into an outdoor comedy haven. Backed by the Allan Labor Government, this much-anticipated festival is poised to draw thousands of visitors to Mitchelton Winery from Friday, November 8, offering a blend of humor, music, and local culture. Supported by the $38 million Regional Events Fund, Comedy in the Vines not only showcases top-tier comedians but also boosts local tourism and the economy.
Last year’s festival attracted approximately 1,500 attendees, with 83% coming from outside the region and 8% from interstate, contributing nearly 2,000 bed nights and an economic impact of around $800,000. This year, these numbers are expected to climb, further benefiting regional businesses. The lineup promises an unforgettable experience with UK’s Jen Brister and Australian comedians like Joel Creasey, Mel Buttle, Charlie Pickering, and Tony Armstrong.
Adding to the festival’s energy, musicians Tim Rogers and Gillian Cosgriff will set the perfect mood, rounding out a weekend of laughter and live music. Comedy in the Vines is part of Victoria’s broader push to support regional events, with a packed calendar that includes highlights like the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race, the Frida Kahlo In Her Own Image Exhibition in Bendigo, and the International Rose Garden Festival in Morwell. Events like these showcase why.
