The first part of a refurbished park in Newark has opened just in time for the latter part of the school holidays. In the town centre, Sherwood Avenue Play Park has been undergoing some big changes, but the play zone area of the site is now open. This space has been designed with creative play in mind and has a range of play equipment, including ten accessible pieces.

There is also an area for parents to sit and relax, whilst also still having a full view of the play area. However, the park is not complete yet as work is still ongoing for the welcome area, active zone and nature zone. Once complete, there will be a state-of-the-art skate park a multi-use sports pitch, a free ride area for biking and skating, fitness trail, wheelchair-friendly paths and improved entrances.
