Brenda Blethyn already has already finished with her first project after announcing she was bowing out of ITV’s long-running crime drama Vera earlier this year. Speaking to The Sun , the actress, 78, said: "I've just finished a film written and directed by Paul Andrew Williams . I don't know when that's coming, it's actually untitled.
" Speaking about Vera's final two episodes, she added:"Yeah, it was quite emotional. Hopefully it's up to its normal standard, and I've not seen them yet, the last two episodes. But the stories are all good.
" Blethyn announced in April that she would be leaving the crime drama , and said at the time she was “proud of our achievements” since the show began in 2011. The Kent -born star also praised those she worked alongside, including producers, cast and crew, saying: "I'm going to miss them, but I won't forget their huge talent, the camaraderie, laugher or kindness we shared, not the friendship of the people of the northeast and our fans worldwide. "Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
" Opening up further about her decision to step away from the role which she had played since 2011, she was adamant it was the right time. Speaking to GB News, she said: “I'm not sad because I'm so happy to have done it.” Insisting that it hadn’t been a difficult decision to make, she explained: “Not really, because I was away from home for six months every year.
