Wednesday, November 13, 2024 The tourism department of Udham Singh Nagar district has allocated Rs 90 lakh from its district development plan to enhance the Baur Reservoir in Gularbhoj, aiming to elevate its status as a prime tourist attraction. This scenic reservoir, stretching across 9.5 kilometers, currently attracts visitors with a variety of boating options, including kayaking, jet skiing, and pontoon rides.
With the fresh investment, two new boat jetties will be installed, along with designated selfie spots to enhance visitor experience. Additionally, ramps will be constructed to improve accessibility to the jetties, making the area more welcoming and convenient for tourists. At present, five boating companies serve visitors at Baur Reservoir, with three local operators and two others from Tehri and Dehradun.
To improve the infrastructure and support these businesses, Rs 20 lakh has been allocated for the construction of additional jetties and parking facilities. This upgrade aims to optimize operations and draw in more businesses to the area. The irrigation department has been appointed to oversee and execute these development projects.
