USA Gymnastics is providing an update. After appealing to reinstate Jordan Chiles ‘ bronze medal, which she was stripped of over the weekend , the organization provided a follow-up statement on Monday (August 12) on social media. “USA Gymnastics was notified by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) on Monday that their rules do not allow for an arbitral award to be reconsidered even when conclusive new evidence is presented,” they wrote.

“We are deeply disappointed by the notification and will continue to pursue every possible avenue and appeal process, including to the Swiss Federal Tribunal, to ensure the just scoring, placement, and medal award for Jordan .” News broke that the 23-year-old gymnast would need to surrender the medal to Romanian Olympian Ana Barbosu because of a ruling made by the Court of Arbitration for Sport that the inquiry into her score was made too late, but USA Gymnastics claimed that they had video evidence it was made in time. Find out what Ana Barbosu said about the bronze medal being taken away.
