ALPENA, MI – This mural trail in Northern Michigan includes 22 works downtown, along waterways and even on a rock in Lake Huron. The artwork depicts shipwrecks, an “aquascape,” maritime and industrial history, sports and nature related to the Alpena area. Alpena’s Mural Trail is easy to follow by clicking “add to plan” for each site on the Visit Alpena website or app.

It’s all within Alpena city limits. “The murals in Alpena add vibrant splashes of color and cultural significance to the cityscape,” according to Visit Alpena. “These large-scale artworks adorn building exteriors throughout downtown and other areas, depicting scenes from Alpena’s rich history, natural beauty and community life.
