UP DGP: We are not a trigger-happy force

Lucknow: UP DGP Prashant Kumar has said that contrary to the perception, UP Police is not a trigger-happy force and sweeping generalizations, often fueled by biased narratives, fail to capture the full picture of the complexities involved in law enforcement . In an interview with TOI, the DGP said that biased perceptions undermined the integrity and sacrifices of those dedicated to ensuring the state's safety and security. "Under the guidance of CM Yogi Adityanath , we have adopted a zero-tolerance policy against crime, criminals, and mafia.

But it is not at the cost of the due process," the DGP said. He asserted that UP Police had not been singled out by any independent agency, or the Supreme Court. On bulldozer action, he said such actions are never taken by the police.
