Wednesday, March 19, 2025 United Airlines is ending free Clear Plus for Premier 1K members starting May, leaving Delta as the last airline offering the travel perk to top elites. United Airlines Ends Free Clear Plus Membership for Premier 1K Members Starting May United Airlines is scaling back one of the perks available to its top-tier elite travelers. Beginning in May, Premier 1K members will no longer receive complimentary Clear Plus membership, marking a notable shift in the carrier’s loyalty program.

The Chicago-based airline recently notified Premier 1K travelers via email about the upcoming change, which takes effect on May 1. However, those who have already enrolled in Clear Plus through United’s complimentary offer will retain access until their membership expires. Upon renewal, these members will still receive a discounted rate of $129 per year, thanks to a $70 savings from the airline.

Moving forward, the only United travelers who will continue to receive free Clear membership are those enrolled in the invite-only United Global Services program. All other elite flyers, including Premier 1K members, will need to cover the cost themselves. Other Clear membership discounts remain unchanged, including those available to select United MileagePlus Premier members and customers with United’s cobranded credit cards.

With this change, Delta Air Lines becomes the only U.S. carrier still offering complimentary Clear Plus access to its highest-tier elite members.
